Checklists make me happy. They bring me a sense of calm and organization in the chaos that is my life.

Creating and uploading resources to Teachers Pay Teachers can be a lot. It is easy to forget something in the process. Plus, it is just so satisfying to check or cross off something on your list!

I use a resource upload checklist every time I add a product to my Teachers Pay Teachers store. Here is what is on my resource upload checklist:

1. Is there a credits page?

It is very important to give credit where credit is due! In each of my resources, I include a credits page where I give credit to the creative authors of my clipart, fonts, etc. On this page I include the author’s logo and hyperlink their store website. This thanks the creative author and also allows buyers to check out what else the creative author sells.

Be careful of other creative authors terms of use. Many authors require you to share their logo AND hyperlink their Teachers Pay Teachers store or website. Some authors only ask that you put their logo. To be on the safe side, I always hyperlink the author’s website to their logo.

2. Is my copyright on each page of the resource?

Make sure that you put your copyright on every page of your resource! This includes the resource itself and all of the other pages that go into the upload. To make a copyright, you put “( c )” then your name, year.

3. Is there a Terms of Use page?

It is important to include a terms of use page so the buyer knows exactly what they can and cannot do with your resource. This can be a simple page explicitly telling the buyer what they can and cannot do with your resource.

4. Do I have a cover?

With this question, I’m really asking myself, do I have an eye catching cover? You want to make sure that your TPT resource covers include a picture or screenshot of your resource in action and the title. Make sure the title is big and readable when it is a smaller thumbnail on TPT!

Another thing that makes your covers eye catching is having them be colorful. I do not mean that you should include the rainbow in all of your thumbnails, but definitely use your brand colors! You can also use other colors that complement and enhance your brand colors.

5. Did I make 3 thumbnails?

Thumbnails help provide the buyer with a sneak peak of your resource. In addition to providing a sneak peak at my resource, I like to give suggestions for use and reasons why they would want this particular resource. The reason why I want to make sure I have 3 is because TPT allows you to post a maximum of 3 thumbnails for each resource – including bundles!

6. Is there a PDF or video preview for the resource?

Providing a preview of the resource allows the buyer to check out part of the resource to determine if they’d like to buy it or not. It’s kind of like trying on the shirt before you buy it. You want to know exactly what you’re going to get! As a buyer, video previews can help explain the product in more detail since you get the visual AND audio, but PDF previews work just as well.

If you include a PDF preview, make sure to put a watermark over your work that said “preview” so that people cannot just print off the preview and use it. I would suggest that you do not put preview across all of your resource pages and upload it as your preview. Only give away a small amount of the resource to entice someone to buy it.
