Description
This collaborative tessellation helps students review key polynomial characteristics. Each student completes one triangle, and the class builds a full display together for a visual review of polynomial functions.
This activity gives students a clear way to review the main characteristics of polynomial functions. Each section includes a polynomial graph with structured questions about zeros, multiplicity, end behavior, degree, turning points, and intervals of increase and decrease. Students complete their section, cut it out, and add it to the class tessellation. When all pieces are combined, the class creates a full collaborative display that shows many different polynomial graphs at once.
How It Works
Print the tessellation pieces and give each student one triangle. Students study the graph, answer the questions, and check their work before cutting out the piece. When everyone is finished, students work together to place their triangles on a bulletin board or wall. The display becomes a large, visual reference showing many polynomial behaviors in one place. The answer key makes checking quick and supports small-group review.
Each student contributes one completed piece to the class display, helping everyone see a wide variety of polynomial shapes and characteristics at a glance. This makes the review more meaningful and supports strong discussion about how polynomial features compare.
Here’s what is included:
➡️ 4 Blank tessellation pieces (2 per page
➡️ 8 questions total
➡️ Teacher directions
➡️ An answer key
➡️ Examples of completed pieces & bulletin board design
Ways to Use
You can use this activity by giving each student a different polynomial triangle to complete, then having them add their finished pieces to a shared bulletin board. As the tessellation grows, students walk up to the board, compare the polynomial graphs, talk about end behavior and zeros, and see how each classmate’s example connects to the bigger picture of polynomial functions.
