Description
This Santa tessellation gives students practice writing linear equations in all major forms. Each student completes a triangle and adds it to a collaborative class display. Editable PowerPoint included.
This festive tessellation gives students a clear review of writing linear equations in slope–intercept, point–slope, and standard form. Each Santa triangle includes a linear-equation problem where students use given points, slope, or other information to write the correct equation. Students show their work inside the beard space, color their piece, and add it to the collaborative Santa tessellation. The editable PowerPoint file lets you adjust problems or difficulty to match your class.
How It Works
Print the PDF or open the editable PowerPoint file to customize the problems. Give each student one Santa triangle. Students solve the problem, show their steps inside the triangle, and color their piece. When finished, they cut out the triangle and help assemble the class Santa tessellation on a bulletin board or wall. The answer key makes checking simple and supports small-group review.
Here’s what is included:
➡️ 3 Blank tessellation pieces (3 per page)
➡️ 9 questions total
➡️ Editable Version – PowerPoint file
➡️ Teacher directions
➡️ An answer key
➡️ Examples of completed pieces & bulletin board design
Students practice writing linear equations from points, slope, or other given information, using all three major forms: slope–intercept, point–slope, and standard form. Each piece supports strong understanding of structure while still being simple and low prep.
Ways to Use
You can use this activity by giving each student one Santa triangle to solve and color before cutting it out and bringing it to the front of the room. As students add their finished pieces to the bulletin board, they help build the full Santa tessellation and can compare how writing linear equations changes across slope–intercept, point–slope, and standard form.
Standards:

TEKS: A1.2.C
VA SOLs: EI.A.6.b
Print the pieces or customize the editable PowerPoint file, and let your students build a collaborative Santa tessellation while reviewing writing linear equations.
