This collaborative Santa tessellation helps students practice multiplying polynomials. Each student completes one triangle, and the class builds a festive display together. Editable PowerPoint version included.

This holiday-themed tessellation gives students a simple way to review multiplying polynomials in December. Each Santa triangle contains a polynomial multiplication problem. Students solve the expression, show their work inside the beard space, and color their piece. When everyone finishes, the class assembles all triangles into a collaborative Santa tessellation. An editable PowerPoint file is included so you can change the problems, adjust difficulty, or add differentiation.

 

How It Works

Print the PDF or open the editable PowerPoint file to adjust the problems before printing. Give each student a Santa triangle. Students multiply the expressions, write their simplified product, and add color. Once completed, students cut out their triangle and help arrange the class Santa tessellation on a bulletin board or wall. The answer key makes checking quick and supports small-group review.

Ways to Use

You can use this activity by giving each student a Santa triangle to solve, color, and cut out. After students complete their work, they bring their triangles to a shared bulletin board and help piece together the full Santa tessellation. As the display grows, students compare their polynomial products and see how each piece contributes to the final picture.
